Booking live for our 30th Anniversary Conference – Building the Way Forward Together

Join us for the Jessie’s Fund 30th anniversary conference, ‘Building the Way Forward Together’ at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. We will be celebrating three decades of transformative work in using music with children and young people with life limiting illness and/or SEND and looking to the future of practice.

This event is for all those interested in the power of music to give children and young people with complex needs a voice and will be of interest to music therapists, community musicians, teachers, and parents/carers alike.

Highlights of the day’s programme will include a warm musical welcome Jessie’s Fund style (be prepared to join in!), a reflection on 30 years of Jessie’s Fund, and an inspiring keynote address by Charles Hazlewood, Artistic Director of the Paraorchestra. Delegates will then participate in their choice of three insightful parallel discussion sessions: personal development for practitioners; core methodology and innovations in using music to support communication; and advances in music technology. In another session we will discuss the need to develop the skills of young musicians in this field and showcase an example initiative with the RNCM. We are also delighted to be hosting the launch of a new book edited by Vicky Kammin and Julie Russell: ‘Music Therapy in Children’s Palliative Care: Collaborative Family and Practitioner Voices’.

The day is designed to be participatory, and attendees will have plenty of time to enjoy networking opportunities, to talk with colleagues and collaborators, and share their reflections on practice.
