Charity Gala Concert in aid of Jessie’s Fund

A fantastic free concert was held at York Barbican on Saturday 24th June in aid of Jessie’s Fund, raising over £400 to help children with additional needs through the power of music. It featured wind and brass musicians that have traveled all the way from America, as well as two local groups:

The Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony is the premier youth wind ensemble in Northeast Ohio USA. We are proud to provide an outstanding musical experience for exemplary young musicians. Since 1989, we have been working to supplement local school music programs, while creating lifelong musical memories for students.

The University of York Brass Band, who are a non-auditioning university band and play a wide variety of music of all different standards of difficulty.

The Harrogate Band was formed in April 1970 and continue to be seriously entertaining and are a popular choice for performing at concerts and all sorts of great events. As well as putting on fantastic concerts we currently compete in the First Section, so our standard of playing is consistently high and we have a reputation for innovation and performing exciting contemporary music.

Thank you to all the bands for a wonderful evening of British and American music (especially the Satchmo!) and to all who generously donated.
