The Academy of St Olave’s is the City of York’s leading chamber orchestra. They will be hosting a concert for our 30th Anniversary on Saturday 25th January 2025 at the beautiful setting of St Olave’s Church, Marygate, in York. It will be a varied and exciting programme including the Overture to Hänsel and Gretel (Humperdinck), Schumann Symphony no. 1 (Spring Symphony) and the Sinfonia Concertante for Wind (Mozart). The latter work for flute, oboe, bassoon and horn was lost even before its first performance. The piece now played was discovered about 90 years later, with clarinet replacing the flute, and will be played in the concert on 25th January by Jessie’s mum Lesley Schatzberger.
