Academy of St Olave’s on 25 September

After a year and a half of being silenced, York’s chamber orchestra, the Academy of St Olave’s, celebrated getting back to live concerts with a popular programme in aid of Jessie’s Fund.

The Academy of St Olave’s and Jessie’s Fund have strong links: the orchestra’s director is Alan George, Jessie’s father and a trustee of the charity, and the orchestra has fundraised generously for Jessie’s Fund in the past. In this concert Lesley Schatzberger, Director of Jessie’s Fund, was soloist in the clarinet concerto by Mozart, playing on a basset clarinet – as the work was originally conceived.

The concert was sold out a week before the event, and resulted in very welcome donations of over £1,000.
