STOKESLEY SONGFEST celebrated the 75th birthday of Teesside Music Society and the 20th birthday of Sounds Fun Pre-School Music Classes, with lots of singing over the weekend of 15th – 17th February. A ceilidh got things off to a great start on the Friday evening.
The aim was to make all kinds of music accessible to everyone, and for everyone to experience music and learn through having fun. The Stokesley SongFest took place at Stokesley Methodist Church, and there were numerous workshops for both children and adults, including singing games, ‘Making Opera in an Hour’, a presentation about music therapy for children with special needs, community singing with songs from around the world, and evening performances by excellent professional musicians.
The SongFest was organised by Julia Haigh, who nominated Jessie’s Fund as the charity to be supported: the weekend raised almost £800 for us. Thank you, Julia!
