Andy Baker

We are deeply saddened to hear of the death from cancer of bass player Andy Baker – one of Jessie’s Fund’s key musicians over the last 20 years or so. Andy seemed to be at home performing in almost every genre of music, whether classical, jazz, folk or rock. This versatility informed his work as a community musician, at which he excelled. His outstanding rapport with children and young people, his sensitivity and his gentle humour, in addition to his superb musicianship, made him an ideal workshop leader for Jessie’s Fund, and we will miss him very much.
‘I wanted to say a massive thank you again to Jessie’s Fund for our latest adventure with Andy and Tom. Your musicians brought excitement, vitality, energy, and ideas to the school and left leaving lots of smiles…..The impact on pupils’ lives could be radical.’
